jon/dave --> Flying saucer attack

jon: my memories of the first of our songs are ones of struggling with a language lab 2-track recprder,playing everything twice to get a stereo effect.It was around the time i had been playing the guitar for about 8 months,i was only managing open chords but beefing the the sound up by using an old copycat echobox.we would dissapear up cleeve hill and play sta on the hillside looking for more inspiration.At the same time across the plain to the marvern hills, steven duffy was wrighting the first lilac time album.That album still remains a favorite and it showed that that new rock/pop/folk acoustic stuff could have a place. We never gave up hope.

dave:although we were never  a proper band,and never had a definite name,jon and i did a number of sessions on 2-track and 4-track machines between summer '87 and winter '92. Doing our sessions gave me reasons to try,and persevere with,songwriting and recording.It was Jon that statred it, and his enthousiasm that kept it going,and it became, as it turns out, along period during which the groundwork for FSA was laid.None of it would ever had happened if it hadn't been for the prompting of Jon's occasional question over the preceding years:"got any new tunes yet?"
